American Triple-T and INFINIT celebrate their 15th anniversaries together with weekend long race at new location — 3 days, 4 triathlons, 1 epic event

2019 is a year to celebrate and look back through 15 exciting years of endurance sports.

Not only is it INFINIT’s 15th anniversary as a company specializing in fueling endurance athletes, but it’s also the 15th consecutive year that the American Triple-T has taken place — A three-day bucket list race that has been described as “hardcore, old school racing. The way triathlon used to be.”

The American Triple-T

The American Triple-T is a weekend-long event consisting of four different triathlon distance races spanning three days. Athletes who take on the event have the option to partake in a single race or go all-in by doing the entire weekend of racing, ranging from a super-sprint to half iron (70.3) distance.

This year the race will be happening at Ohio's largest state park, the beautiful Salt Fork State Park in Cambridge, Ohio, a venue swap from the previous years at Shawnee State Park.

Participants will be challenged with chilly swims in Salt Fork Lake, a very hilly bike course with almost 5000 feet of climbing, and a unique run course through the Shadbush trail system.

The American Triple-T race course is notorious for being hilly and extremely challenging, and the new venue will definitely help continue that legacy.

Bucket List Racecation

The American Triple-T is unique, in that finishing times mean nothing. Simply finishing means everything.

The event is a weekend long family celebration of the endurance lifestyle inside one of the nicest parks in the State of Ohio. The American Triple-T race format is unique in a world of cookie cutter races, and must be experienced by any endurance athlete. It is one of the most daunting challenges any endurance athlete can attempt. This is one event you can really brag about.

Have the opportunity to rub elbows and race with the very best in triathlon including 6th place 2018 IRONMAN World Championship finisher Matt Russell. Matt will be the keynote speaker during the Saturday evening participant dinner where he will talk about his incredible comeback journey following a near fatal accident during the 2017 IRONMAN World Championship.

Many other big names will be in attendance, including a number of Team INFINIT pros who will be racing throughout the weekend.

Not to mention, it’s a great race to bring along the whole crew!

“One of the things we’re most excited about with this particular venue, is how family-friendly it is!” Race Director, Shannon Kurek explains, “we have 3x as much lodging [this year]. 148 beautiful rooms and 55 cabins close by and right around the corner from transition.”

The Weekend’s Events

The event kicks off Friday night (5/31) with all athletes taking on the Super Sprint triathlon. The next day Sprint Triathlon (ST) athletes will take on two sprint distance triathlons while the Extreme Triathlon (XT) athletes will take on two Olympic distance triathlons. Finally, the weekend wraps up with ST athletes taking on an Olympic Distance triathlon while the XT athletes will take on the half iron distance triathlon which will coincide with the standalone TOUGHMAN Ohio on Sunday (6/2).

Nutrition

INFINIT Nutrition is the official on-course nutrition and post-race recovery provider for American Triple-T and TOUGHMAN Ohio participants.

INFINIT will be helping racers by taking the hassle and confusion out of their race day fueling strategy — Just drink a bottle per hour, and you are good to go all day long!

Recovery gets taken to a whole new level with an event like the American Triple-T, and it cannot be overlooked.

Post-race recovery is huge, ESPECIALLY during a weekend like this where you are competing with minimal time between races. Your body needs protein and carbohydrate to rebuild and refuel, so your muscles are ready to go again for the next race.

With 4 races over 3 days, if you’re not refueling immediately after each race, your putting yourself at a disadvantage to your competitors and to your own personal race goals.

You might think after the Friday night Super Sprint, “It was only 30 minutes, do I REALLY need to refuel after such a short effort?”

Normally, the answer might be ‘no,’ and you could probably get away with just eating dinner an hour or so later. But with 3 more races over the next 2 days, and just over 12 hours until race #2 (not to mention, the races progressively increasing in distance), the 30 minutes immediately after this hard effort is the perfect time to get in a recovery drink.

Immediately after, your muscles are primed to take in that nutrition and stock your muscles with carbohydrate (aka glycogen) that you will be able to tap into the next morning whether you’re taking on the American Triple-T Sprint or Extreme.

You should continue this recovery cycle after each race on Saturday, especially after the Saturday morning race, considering you only have 4-6 hours until you have to get back out there and do it all over again.

Having that recovery drink as soon as you’re done will help ensure a quick and timely refuel for the muscles and allow you to continue to perform at a high level.

INFINIT offers a few different recovery options, which will be available throughout the weekend:

  • REPAIR (available in chocolate and vanilla) should be your go-to recovery formula after each race. With 60 grams of carbohydrate, 15 grams of protein, plus branched chain amino acids (BCAAs) and glutamine, you’ll be ready to rock that next race and finish the weekend strong!
  • NOCTURNE (available in chocolate) is great for nighttime recovery. If you’re looking for that extra edge to really top off your muscles and help make sure you get a good night of sleep, try a serving 30-60 minutes before you go to bed on Friday and Saturday night, and wake-up feeling refreshed and ready to take on the races.
  • MUD (available in mocha and seasonal flavors) is a very versatile drink! MUD can be used as a pre-workout, the caffeine will give you a kick to get up and moving and your body will be able to use all of the nutrients during the workout. MUD is perfect for your Saturday races, have a serving or two of MUD between races will help you recover and keep you energized to start the second race. Afterwards, the protein in MUD will start that recovery process off the right way!
