The Super Bowl event for triathlon is on it’s 10 day countdown to Saturday, October 8, 2016 in Kona,Hawaii. The Ironman World Championships are here and for those who compete in triathlon, it’s our special day. The pro field is stronger than ever, but the real stories are within the age group athletes and the industry related companies who help them. These athletes have demonstrated desire, determination and discipline to qualify for this epic event. To qualify, athletes have to achieve certain placement based on their age groups at other Ironman events, and this can take athletes any number of years to achieve (or they are fortunate to qualify after a single race). An Ironman event takes athletes through a 140.6 mile swim, bike and run course in the most challenging conditions Hawaii has to offer.

For many of these age group athletes, they turn to a coach to help them achieve their race goals. 50 athletes from Colorado are scheduled to race this year, and Boulder, CO based triathlon coaching company D3 Multisport is proud to be coaching 10% of those athletes (5), plus an additional 3 from other zip codes for a total of 8 athletes.

“We are proud of the athletes who have qualified for Kona and look forward to providing our continued support and coaching for their big day. We’ve worked hard as a coaching group to provide our athletes with the personalized training they need to achieve their goals. We have athletes going for their very first time and one of our coaches is going for his 12th. It will be an exciting day for everyone!” says D3 Head Coach and owner Mike Ricci. Coach Mike is a USAT Level III Certified Coach and was awarded the USAT National Coach of the year.

D3 Multisport is a highly sought after triathlon coaching company that has been providing cutting-edge training for athletes from around the globe for over 16 years. D3 recently coached 17 athletes for Ironman Boulder (all started and finished!), and they were awarded the Ironman Tri Club title for Division IV. The D3 coaches have helped athletes achieve their goals of completing a first race to winning national titles such as USAT Age Group Nationals and World Championship titles such as the ITU Sprint World Championships. They’ve had athletes qualify for the USAT Age Group National Championships and 70.3 World Championships, and of course, the Ironman World Championships. The D3 coaches have also coached the CU Buffaloes to 7 consecutive USAT Collegiate National Championships.
